The Brain’s Body Podcast: The Brain Is the Body
Host by Dr. Christopher K. Slaton
The Brain’s Body Podcast (presented by Brain Talk Books) is an audio companion to Dr. Christopher K. Slaton’s Education and Science series and related titles. Using human systems science—the study of brain, body, and sense events—each episode explores “brain–body–sense experience” and the everyday message behind behavior. Grounded in Dr. Slaton’s signature framework—“The brain is the body” and “The Brain’s Body is a Learning System”—the podcast connects what happens in the body to how we live, learn, think, and respond.
Across home, school, neighborhood, and workplace networks, the show focuses on practical ways to support children, families, and professionals—especially when information processing is stressed and a parent or child is in crisis. Episodes include case discussions and listener-driven questions that model Dr. Slaton’s approach: talk to the child’s brain, not the child’s body. From big feelings and conflict to the crisis of self, listeners leave with simple language, reflection prompts, and next-step tools for improving learning, participation, and self-awareness.
Brain Talk Books is a publishing imprint of Progressive Investment Group Press established to disseminate Christopher K. Slaton’s literature in Human Systems Science, with particular attention to brain–body–sense events and their implications for learning, self-regulation, and relational dynamics. Across books and companion media, the imprint advances a structured, practice-oriented framework for interpreting behavioral communication and for supporting parents, educators, and health and human service professionals in applied settings.

How the Brain and Body Communicate in the Crisis of Self
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Your brain doesn’t just “run” your body. Your body is how your brain becomes real. That is the starting point for The Brain’s Body Podcast—a learning space for listeners, learners, and students who want to better understand how humans live, learn, think, and respond through the crisis of self.
Each episode introduces Human Systems Science through Brain Talk, Brain Thinking, and sense-and-receive path disruption. We explore how the brain and body communicate through the experience of self, why people get caught in states of resistance, and how greater flexibility can emerge through reflection, feedback, and ongoing information processing.
This podcast is designed for people who want more than inspiration. It is for those who want to participate in a deeper learning process—one that helps them understand how the brain talks back, how self-talk shapes response, and how awareness can be developed over time.

Welcome And The Big Idea
SPEAKER_00Welcome to the Brain's Body Podcast, hosted by Dr. Christopher K. Slayton. Today's conversation is about human system science as the study of how humans live, learn, think, and respond through the crisis of self as sense and receive path disruption.
The Brain Is The Body
SPEAKER_00The brain is the body because the received path is a neural response system. The body is the living transformation of brain activity, shaping how we think and respond through the way the brain talks back. This podcast is a space to learn how to move through the crisis of self through brain talk and toward brain
The Crisis Of Self
SPEAKER_00thinking. Let's begin with the crisis of self not being able to think through states of mind. The hardest reality for many people to come to terms with is that they must live inside a body while the brain must work through the body to reflect on the experience of self. First, the solution, the brain's body. The brain's body is the ultimate experience of self because the brain and body communicate through the senses. Through this communication, self-awareness is not simply observed from the outside but gathered through the living interaction of brain, body, and sense experience. Now the problem, the body's mind. The body's mind is the physical sense of self being constantly shaped by environmental experience. It reflects states of mind that are often read through externally driven feedback. When this process remains fixed in resistance, the person stays in static states of response rather than developing the flexibility to think through and reflect on what is being experienced.
From Resistance To Flexible Response
SPEAKER_00So what is the answer? The brain must learn the body, and the body must live with the brain through the senses. A person must learn how to distinguish the way the brain reads states of mind as externally driven feedback. But understanding self on the outside is not the same as becoming more aware of self on the inside. The brain responds by gathering from states of resistance where response becomes static, and through stages of acceptance, where flexibility to respond becomes possible. Through the synthesis of external and internal interaction, the person can begin to sense feel how memory, emotion, thought, and reflection move together in the experience of self. In this way, the brain does not simply observe the body. It learns how the body is living while the body comes to live with the brain in the ongoing formation of self-awareness. This is human system science moving through the crisis of self toward brain thinking by learning how to work with self-talk and reflection as forms of brain learning, learning how the brain responds through brain talk. At this point, brain and body communicate through higher stages of sense and receive path function, generating forward and backward feedback loops. This is the work of learning how the brain talks
