The Brain’s Body Podcast: The Brain Is the Body
Host by Dr. Christopher K. Slaton
The Brain’s Body Podcast (presented by Brain Talk Books) is an audio companion to Dr. Christopher K. Slaton’s Education and Science series and related titles. Using human systems science—the study of brain, body, and sense events—each episode explores “brain–body–sense experience” and the everyday message behind behavior. Grounded in Dr. Slaton’s signature framework—“The brain is the body” and “The Brain’s Body is a Learning System”—the podcast connects what happens in the body to how we live, learn, think, and respond.
Across home, school, neighborhood, and workplace networks, the show focuses on practical ways to support children, families, and professionals—especially when information processing is stressed and a parent or child is in crisis. Episodes include case discussions and listener-driven questions that model Dr. Slaton’s approach: talk to the child’s brain, not the child’s body. From big feelings and conflict to the crisis of self, listeners leave with simple language, reflection prompts, and next-step tools for improving learning, participation, and self-awareness.
Brain Talk Books is a publishing imprint of Progressive Investment Group Press established to disseminate Christopher K. Slaton’s literature in Human Systems Science, with particular attention to brain–body–sense events and their implications for learning, self-regulation, and relational dynamics. Across books and companion media, the imprint advances a structured, practice-oriented framework for interpreting behavioral communication and for supporting parents, educators, and health and human service professionals in applied settings.

Ever felt the clash between what your senses scream and what your better self wants to do? We dig into that gap and make it workable. I lay out a simple, demanding framework for letting the brain lead the body, so raw emotion gets filtered into clarity, compassion, and decisive action. This isn’t about suppressing feelings—it’s about building a receive path that turns fear, anger, and confusion into responses you respect the next morning.
We walk through how learning the brain becomes self-learning: sensing, reflecting, and then acting in a steady backward-forward feed that builds new neural pathways. You’ll hear why the statement “you are not the body—you are the brain” matters when life gets loud, how to navigate the internal–external clash without freezing, and what it means to practice informed contact when pain, hurt, and sadness arrive. I share tools to move from the unknown to the known—naming states, pacing breath under load, journaling triggers and choices, and rehearsing the next right move—so calm stops being luck and starts being a trained outcome.
There’s also a wake-up call about technology. IT can read, write, and talk, but it can’t perform your life. When tools replace your decisions, conversation, and focus, the crisis of self deepens. I offer a practical rule: use tech as an amplifier, not a substitute—think before you search, write before you edit, speak before you prompt. Along the way, we explore brain talk—the inner voice that becomes accurate, compassionate, and directive when trained—so you can lead yourself through anxiety and into function. Subscribe, share with someone who needs a grounded mental reset, and leave a review to tell me the one habit you’ll use this week to let your brain lead.

SPEAKER_00Welcome to the Brain's Body Podcast. I am Dr. Christopher Kevin Slayton, and I am honored to be your host. My mission is to share knowledge and insights at the intersection of education and science, drawing from my experience and research as a human system scientist. Each episode of this podcast centers around the delivery of education and scientific understanding, with a particular emphasis on the critical role that human system science plays in shaping how we learn and live. To deepen your understanding of the concepts discussed in my brain talk books, I invite you to tune in to my upcoming podcast on October 24th, 2025. In this special episode, I will feature my latest masterpiece, Doisome Science, in the best interest of the child's mental health and self-awareness. The new frontier in brain talk, learning the brain and self-learning. Don't miss this opportunity to explore the latest advancements in brain learning and self-learning. Subscribe now. So here we go. How does your brain learn? No, because we're talking about the education of self. How does your brain learn because you're unique? And I keep telling you this because you're the technology, the ultimate experience is you. So how does your brain learn? That's very, very significant in understanding the neural systems of the brain's body. Next, how does your body live? How does your body live through the experience of you? That's another example. The extension beyond just self to the technology of being self, where you have to come to terms with how you think through the things you feel. Because how you live through the crisis self, how you move through anxiety, fear, anger, and move into these levels of functionality, understanding how to manage that emotion. How do you live inside your body? Again, how the senses process forward, backward, feed. Now, I'm talking about the science of self because look here, what I'm saying to you is that the external and the internal naturally clashes because you have to live in the environment and process information flow simultaneously. And you have to build thought with reflection and insight to respond. So that you become more and more aware, we're talking about self-activization. That's what we'll be talking about. Because when we talk about healing, we're talking about self first. So education starts with you and me, and how we learn the brain and how we learn to move through the crisis of self by understanding how we make contact more meaningful when our senses are disrupted by pain, hurt, and sadness. How do we rise that next level of functionality, knowing that we're upset? Christ of self, sensing received past damage. The ultimate experience is you. That's what I mean. The ultimate experience is realizing what it really takes to lift you up and hold self accountable for staying informed about how you live, learn, think, and respond to yourself, the crisis of you, then other people, but deal with you first. And in dealing with you first, that means the brain has taken the lead of the body. The receive path is more functional. Hear me out. Because most of us live through the sense path, the physics of the body. We display the body, that's who we are. No, we are not the body, we are the brain. And the received path is your neural systems, technical technologies moving forward with that thought, reflection, insight, emotion. Because it's changed, because it's been filtered. That's what processing is. Processing filters that emotion, turns it into compassion, controlled compassion. Wow, she's compassionate. Wait a minute. How do you learn to live with yourself, other people, and the environment? Oh, yeah, because that's why you come back to the Brain's Body Podcast, because this is what we're talking about. The science of becoming informed, the science of understanding, the science of self, the technology that allows you to recover from being damaged by the experience of environmental influences that are negative, that are toxic, that you learn to overcome because you focus. How you sense, to feel, to focus, brain-body, sense messaging. And that backward-forward feed, that's what we're talking about. Brain-body connection, sense path, forming new real pathways because you're becoming more informal. Remember, as you learn how to live inside your body, the brain creates pathways to understand self because you're doing the work. You're staying informed about what's going on in the experience of self. So now when you have that contact interaction, that forward feed comes. And now you're calm where yesterday you were anxious and upset and frustrated because you just didn't know how to get out of the unknown to the known. Now you don't become so concerned about moving through the unknown because you have a business strategy, you have a self-learning strategy to study yourself and how to move through that complexity. Stop. Humanism Science explores new frontier brain talk. That inner voice, self-talk, brain talk. I'll be talking about this on October 24th in greater detail. Because what are we talking about? So if I'm talking about the brain learning and self-learning, then how do you acquire self-actualization of your technology? That's what we're talking about. Because in the 21st century, you must know how to operate your human system. Because IT, wait a minute, let me finish. IT is powerful. It does everything for you. You don't have to read, you don't have to write, you don't have to talk anymore. It does that for you. You don't have to perform anymore. It does that for you. You all you got to do is play games and gamble, utilizing IT, and your day just goes by. And you're falling further and further into the crisis itself. Mental illness. Why? Because you're no longer performing. I'm telling you, you're no longer performing through the challenges of making your own choices and decisions. No, IT is helping it and doing it for you. Wait a minute. I'll be back. Stay tuned. I'll stay live. Thank you very much for listening.
